Our CRUISER packages begin
with a fully welded steel or chromoly chassis, and include all
of the suspension pivot points and shock mounts already located
for proper positioning and geometry. Our rear suspension is set
up "per car". This means that the camber, toe, droop,
and axle plunge is exact on each and every car. Some manufacturers
"fixture" their rear suspensions - not taking into
account the material, operator, and welding heat differences.
We pride ourselves on giving the customer the quality that they
have come to expect from Sand LIMO.
The CRUISER chassis is available
in two, four, and five seat configurations. The two- seat version
is available as either a rear, or mid-engine car. This chassis
is 56" wide in the cockpit so it is extra roomy, and comfortable.
Extra wide seats fit up front with no problem. The rear (on four
& five seat cars) can accept either individual buckets, or
a 53" bench seat.
CRUISERS come standard with 22"
inches of wheel travel front and rear, and are upgradeable to
24" of front wheel travel, and 26" of rear wheel travel.
The power-plant range used in the CRUISER is anywhere from air-cooled
four cylinder engines, up to approximately 1200 horsepower aluminum
V-8's. The recommended transaxle used in these cars varies, depending
on horsepower and torque being generated. Sand LIMO will install
the transaxle of your choice (VW, Mendeola, Fortin, Albins, and
others).
Our bigger travel cars have more
suspension "droop" than many of our competitors. This
allows the suspension to be "in the travel" rather
than on top of the travel. So when you see our big travel cars
going through the bumps, they are very controllable. They may
not sit up as tall as some of the cars out there, but they work
considerably better. Our research comes from watching "Trophy
Trucks". They only look like they have about a foot of ground
clearance; but when they are going 100 plus miles per hour over
the whoops you can see the suspension drop about three feet out
from under the truck. You cannot control a vehicle if you can't
keep it on the ground.
The CRUISER is available as a chassis
package, roller package, near turn-key, and turn- key configurations
